IPPT: What You Need to Know (and How to Game the Numbers)

The IPPT has three stations: Push-Ups (max 25 points), Sit-Ups (max 25 points), and 2.4km Run (max 50 points) — total of 100 points. You need 51 to pass, 61 for the $200 incentive, 75 for Silver ($300), and 85 for Gold ($500).

Here's what most NSmen don't realize: the scoring isn't linear. At certain thresholds, a small improvement in one station can jump you an entire award tier. Use the IPPT Score Calculator to find your "cheapest" points — the station where minimal extra effort gives you maximum point gain.

Scoring standards adjust by age group. Older NSmen have more lenient thresholds — so if you're 35+, your 2.4km run time target is significantly easier than a 25-year-old's. Check your age group standards with the calculator.

If you fail (below 51), you'll need to complete 20 Remedial Training (RT) sessions within the window. Track your progress with the RT Session Tracker.
