Singapore Leave Entitlements: The Complete Picture

Singapore's Employment Act sets minimum leave entitlements, but the specifics depend on your situation. Here's what you're entitled to and what changed recently.

Maternity Leave: 16 weeks of Government-Paid Maternity Leave (GPML) for the first two children. The first 8 weeks are employer-paid, the last 8 are government-paid. Third child onwards, all 16 weeks are government-paid.

Paternity Leave: Doubled from 2 to 4 weeks from January 2025, all government-paid and capped at $2,500/week. You must be legally married and have served your employer for at least 3 months.

Annual Leave: 7 days after your first year of service, increasing by 1 day per year up to a maximum of 14 days. Pro-rated for incomplete years.

Childcare Leave: 6 days per parent per year for children under 7. 2 days of extended childcare leave for children aged 7–12. Must have worked for at least 3 months.

Notice Period: Ranges from 1 day (less than 26 weeks of service) to 4 weeks (5+ years). Check your exact dates with the Notice Period Calculator.
