The Real Cost of Owning a Car in Singapore
Singapore is one of the most expensive places in the world to own a car — and the sticker price is just the beginning.
Before the car loan even starts, you need a Certificate of Entitlement (COE)which currently runs $60,000–$110,000+ depending on category. Then there's the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) at 100–180% of Open Market Value.
Your loan is capped at 70% LTV (or 60% if the tenure exceeds 5 years), with a maximum tenure of 7 years. And your car loan payments count toward your TDSR if you're also getting a housing loan.
Once you're driving, expect to pay for road tax, insurance, petrol, parking, ERP charges, and regular maintenance. A mid-range sedan typically costs $100,000–$150,000 in total ownership over 10 years. Use the Total Cost Calculator to see your real number.
