COE Calculator (2026)
Calculate total registration cost including COE premium, ARF, and registration fees.
What is a COE Calculator?
A COE calculator estimates the total registration cost of a vehicle in Singapore, including the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premium, Additional Registration Fee (ARF), and other fees. The COE is a licence granting the right to register and use a vehicle for 10 years, allocated through LTA's competitive bidding system.

How COE and Vehicle Registration Works
Singapore uses a Certificate of Entitlement (COE) system to manage the vehicle population. COEs are allocated through open bidding exercises held twice a month by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). The COE premium you pay gives you the right to own and use a vehicle for 10 years.
On top of the COE premium, you must also pay the Additional Registration Fee (ARF), which is calculated in five progressive tiers based on the vehicle's Open Market Value (OMV): 100% on the first $20,000, 140% on the next $20,000 ($20k-$40k), 190% on the next $20,000 ($40k-$60k), 250% on the next $20,000 ($60k-$80k), and 320% on any amount above $80,000. This schedule has applied from the 2nd COE bidding of February 2023.
This calculator shows COE premium + ARF + registration fee. On-road cost also includes GST (9%), excise duty (20% of OMV), road tax, and insurance — see our Total Ownership Cost calculator for a full lifetime estimate.
COE Bidding
5 categories (A/B/C/D/E), bid twice monthly
Valid for 10 years from registration
ARF Tiers
100% / 140% / 190% / 250% / 320% (OMV tiers, $20k bands)
Higher OMV = exponentially higher ARF
Additional Fees

Who This Calculator Is For
Car Buyers Planning Purchase Timing
COE price greatly affects your total car cost.
- Bidding cycle: COE auctioned bi-monthly by LTA
- Cat A range: $60,000–$110,000+ (varies significantly)
- Cat B range: $80,000–$120,000+
- Cat E: Typically highest of all categories
Motorcycle Buyers (Cat D)
COE considerations for motorbike purchases.
- Cat D COE: Significantly cheaper than Cat A/B
- Total cost: Lower overall ownership cost
- Renewal: Cat D COE renewal at 10 years required
- Depreciation: Still applies — plan accordingly
COE Renewal Decision Makers
Deciding whether to renew COE at the 10-year mark.
- Options: 5-year (PQP × 5) or 10-year (PQP × 10)
- PQP: 3-month average of winning COE bids
- Renewal vs new: Renewal cheaper only if COE prices are high
- Deregistering: Receive PARF rebate (if applicable) + scrap rebate
Electric Vehicle Buyers
COE category for EVs and related incentives.
- Category: Most EVs fall under Cat A or Cat B by power output
- Road tax: Based on power rating (kW), not engine cc
- VES rebate: Available for low-emission vehicles
- Cat A EVs: More accessible COE category currently
COE Category A vs B: Key Differences
| Feature | Cat A (≤1,600cc) | Cat B (>1,600cc or >130bhp) |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle types | Small/medium cars, most EVs | Large cars, luxury, powerful |
| COE price (approx) | $80,000–$110,000 | $95,000–$125,000 |
| Road tax | Lower | Higher |
| Fuel efficiency | Typically better | Typically lower |
| Resale market | Smaller market premium | Larger market premium |
| Annual depreciation | Lower (typically) | Higher |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Certificate of Entitlement (COE)?expand_more
A COE is a licence that gives you the right to register, own, and use a vehicle in Singapore for 10 years. COEs are allocated through a competitive bidding system managed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). The COE premium reflects demand for vehicle ownership and is one of the largest costs of owning a car in Singapore.
What are the current COE premium categories?expand_more
There are 5 COE categories: Category A (cars up to 1,600cc and 97kW), Category B (cars above 1,600cc or 97kW), Category C (goods vehicles and buses), Category D (motorcycles), and Category E (open category for any vehicle type except motorcycles). Premiums vary significantly by category and change with each bidding exercise.
How is the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) calculated?expand_more
ARF is calculated in five tiers based on the vehicle’s Open Market Value (OMV), per the LTA revision effective from the 2nd COE bidding of February 2023. First $20,000: 100%; next $20,000 ($20,001-$40,000): 140%; next $20,000 ($40,001-$60,000): 190%; next $20,000 ($60,001-$80,000): 250%; any amount above $80,000: 320%. Example: a car with OMV $30,000 has ARF of $20,000 + ($10,000 x 1.4) = $34,000. A car with OMV $80,000 has ARF of $20,000 + $28,000 + $38,000 + $50,000 = $136,000.
What are the different COE bidding categories explained?expand_more
Category A is for smaller cars (up to 1,600cc and 97kW) and is the most popular. Category B covers larger and more powerful cars. Category C is for commercial vehicles. Category D is exclusively for motorcycles. Category E is the open category — it can be used for any vehicle except motorcycles, and typically has the highest premiums.
