What is the IPPT Score?

Your IPPT score is the combined total from three fitness stations — push-ups (max 25 pts), sit-ups (max 25 pts), and a 2.4km run (max 50 pts). The score determines your award level and cash incentive, with thresholds adjusted across 14 age groups for fairness.

  • • Pass: 51-60 pts (no incentive) | Fail: below 51 pts (20 RT sessions required)

IPPT Score Breakdown

The IPPT score is the sum of points from all three stations. The 2.4km run is worth double the points of push-ups or sit-ups (50 vs 25), making it the most impactful station to train for.

For maximum points: aim for 60 push-ups, 60 sit-ups, and a run time of 8 minutes 30 seconds or faster.

Remember: you must score at least 1 point in each station. Even a total of 85 points won't count as Gold if you scored 0 in any single station.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the IPPT score calculated?expand_more

Your IPPT score is the sum of points from three stations: push-ups (max 25), sit-ups (max 25), and 2.4km run (max 50). Scoring tables are adjusted by age group — there are 14 age brackets from under 22 to 58-60.

What are the IPPT award levels and incentives?expand_more

Gold (85-100 points): $500 incentive. Silver (75-84 points): $300. Pass with Incentive (61-74 points): $200. Pass (51-60 points): no incentive. Below 51 points is a fail requiring 20 RT sessions.

How many push-ups do I need for maximum points?expand_more

60 push-ups in 1 minute gives the maximum 25 points across all age groups. The number of reps needed for passing grades varies by age — older age groups need fewer reps for the same number of points.

What is a good 2.4km run time for IPPT?expand_more

Running 2.4km in 8:30 or faster earns the maximum 50 points across all age groups. For younger NSmen (under 22), a 12:30 run earns about 30 points. Older age groups can achieve higher points with slower times.

Can I retake the IPPT if I fail?expand_more

Yes, you can take the IPPT multiple times within your IPPT window. If you ultimately fail (score below 51 or 0 in any station), you must complete 20 Remedial Training sessions at a Fitness Conditioning Centre.
