What is the DSA Secondary School Checker?

The DSA Secondary School Checker scores how ready your Direct School Admission application is. It weighs your talent area, the level you have achieved, how long you have been involved, the strength of your evidence, and your PSLE confidence — then gives a readiness band and tailored next steps for the 2026 DSA-Sec exercise.

Quick Answer

DSA-Sec lets Primary 6 students secure a secondary school place based on talent, before PSLE. MOE recognises 7 talent categories. The 2026 application window is 6 May – 2 June 2026. A DSA offer still requires you to meet the school's minimum PSLE score. The strongest applications show a multi-year, evidenced track record at zonal level or above.

How DSA-Sec Works

DSA-Sec is a pathway into secondary school that recognises talent and potentialrather than PSLE results alone. Students apply during the application window, then take part in each school's own selection activities — trials, auditions or interviews.

An offer is conditional: you still sit the PSLE and must meet the minimum score for a course at that school. To plan that side, use the PSLE Score Calculator to project your AL score, and the Tuition Fee Calculator to budget for the school years ahead.

The strongest DSA applications are built over years, not weeks. If your readiness score is low this year, the PSLE route remains your main pathway — and you can plan ahead with the O-Level Points Calculator for the secondary years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DSA for secondary school?expand_more

Direct School Admission for Secondary Schools (DSA-Sec) lets Primary 6 students seek admission to a participating secondary school based on a specific talent — before they take the PSLE. It recognises strengths in areas such as sports, the arts, and academic domains that are not reflected in the PSLE score alone.

What are the DSA-Sec talent categories?expand_more

MOE recognises seven DSA-Sec talent categories: Sports and Games; Visual, Literary and Performing Arts; Debate and Public Speaking; Science, Mathematics and Engineering; Languages and Humanities; Uniformed Groups; and Leadership. Each participating school decides which categories it offers DSA places in.

When is the DSA-Sec 2026 application window?expand_more

The DSA-Sec application exercise for 2026 runs from 6 May 2026 to 2 June 2026. Applications are submitted online during this period. Schools then conduct their own selection activities — trials, auditions, interviews — before making offers.

Do I still need to take the PSLE if I get a DSA offer?expand_more

Yes. DSA-Sec confirms a place in principle, but you must still sit the PSLE and meet the minimum PSLE score required for a course at that school. If you accept a DSA offer, you are committed to that school and cannot take part in the regular Secondary 1 posting exercise.

How many secondary schools take in students through DSA?expand_more

Most non-Integrated Programme secondary schools may admit up to 20% of their Secondary 1 intake through DSA-Sec. Specialised independent schools such as NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, the School of the Arts (SOTA), and the School of Science and Technology can admit up to 100% of their intake through DSA.

What makes a strong DSA-Sec application?expand_more

A strong DSA-Sec application usually shows a sustained track record in one talent area — typically several years of involvement — with achievements at zonal, national or international level, supported by results, certificates and a recommendation from a teacher or coach. Schools also look for genuine passion and potential, not just past results.

Can I apply to more than one school through DSA?expand_more

Yes. You can apply to and take part in the selection exercises of more than one participating school. If you receive multiple offers you will rank your choices, and the system confirms one school for you. Focus your effort on a realistic shortlist where your talent and achievement level are competitive.

How does this DSA checker work?expand_more

The checker scores your DSA-Sec readiness out of 100 across four factors: your highest level of achievement, how long you have been involved in the talent, how strong your supporting evidence is, and how confident you are of meeting the school’s PSLE score. It then gives you a readiness band and tailored next steps. It is a planning guide — actual selection is decided by each school.
