Singapore's Most Under-Used Loyalty Programme
KrisFlyer membership is essentially free for any Singapore-based traveller, yet most members redeem their miles through the lowest-value path. The reason: SIA's official miles calculator only does earning. It tells you how many miles you accrue per flight, but not what those miles are worth, or how to redeem them for maximum value.
The single biggest under-known fact in the KrisFlyer programme is the 3–4× gap between low-value redemptions (KrisPay, KrisShop) and high-value redemptions (Saver Business, Saver First). 100,000 miles is worth ~S$830 via KrisPay, but ~S$2,500–S$3,000 via Saver premium-cabin awards on the same balance.
The November 2025 KrisFlyer devaluation reshuffled the value math: Asia/SW Pacific Economy got 5% cheaper, while premium cabins on those routes and all cabins to Europe/USA got 5% more expensive. The 2026 calculator reflects the post-devaluation award chart.

Frequently Asked Questions
How are KrisFlyer miles calculated?expand_more
KrisFlyer miles are calculated as flight distance × fare-class earn rate. Economy Lite/Value earns 50%, Standard 75%, Flexi 100%. Premium cabins earn more: Premium Economy 110%, Business 125%, First/Suites 150%. Use the KrisFlyer Miles Calculator for instant earnings on any route.
Are KrisFlyer miles worth it for Singapore residents?expand_more
Yes — particularly for premium-cabin redemptions. KrisFlyer is one of the most generous airline programmes for Saver Business and First class awards. The cents-per-mile value can reach 3–5¢ on long-haul premium redemptions, compared to ~0.83¢ for KrisPay or KrisShop.
What is the difference between Saver and Advantage awards?expand_more
Saver awards cost fewer miles (more value per mile) but have very limited seat availability. Advantage awards cost about 1.5× more miles but offer broader availability, including last-minute bookings. Most savvy redeemers target Saver awards months in advance for premium cabins.
